The Portfolio Project is an intensive, hands-on 3-day course for aspiring makeup artists interested in creating work for photography. Comprised of two days of photo shoots and one day of image and portfolio critique with Mr. Miles and other veteran makeup artists. Experience working in studio and on location. Models, hair stylists, wardrobe and fashion stylists provided each day. Concluding the critique, the panel will reward the strongest portfolio with a bonus photo shoot.

How the Portfolio Project came about...
Rudy Miles, Crystal Allen and I (Shauna Intelisano) have been working together to produce DAM, The Denver Academy of Makeup, since 2008. During which time we have been inspired by working with each other as well as talented makeup artists and models.
This has compelled us to put together the Portfolio Project, a workshop focused on makeup for photography and creating a portfolio that can get makeup artists to the next level in the industry.
The following images were made about a year ago. Shortly after we conceptualized the Portfolio Project we got together, on the fly, to create...

Makeup by Rudy Miles, Model Leena Geeter, Clothing by Funklectic, Photographer Shauna Intelisano

Funklectic gave me a bunch of colorful, fun creations to use for the photo shoot. I was so impressed with Rudy's makeup and the way it fit with all the crazy colors I was working with.

OVERVIEW
Zang Toi is a master at interpreting inspiration with modernism, futurism and relevance. Here Elizabeth Taylor, the movie GIANT, Texas Rose and cowboy all come together. Opening the show was American Ballet Theatre star, Corey Sterns.
INSPIRATION
For the ss11 Zang Toi collection, the inspiration for the makeup look is a reinterpretation of Elizabeth Taylor's classic beauty as well as the movie GIANT. However, Zang wanted the look to be youthful, fresh and

FACE
For the skin, we kept the skin super hydrated and used Primer first and concealer as foundation so that a very luminous complexion was created for the season instead of the matte skin typical of the 50's.
EYES
The eyes are soft, very bright and open with just a wash of shift shimmer highlight color and very defined black shadow smudged into the upper lash line instead of an obvious cat eye or extension at outer corner.
LASHES
Black mascara defines the upper and lower lash lines and add intensity to the eye.
BROWS
Liz Taylor's beauty is framed with sculpted, defined brows. For Zang's show we used Brow Gel to brush the brows into place and then just a hint of Brow Color was added to subtly enhance and define the brows.
CHEEKS
We decided to forgo blush for the Zang show to really give a free feeling to the look and make the look more carefree, less done.
LIPS
Instead of a red lip color, the look uses a modern petal soft pink. The lips are prepared with a hint of concealer to brighten the pink.
